CHINA PROGRAMME

BEIJING
Every morning, our students will study Mandarin and take their first steps in mastering phrases and basic vocabulary for everyday use. These will be taught by Chinese professionals in a fun and enjoyable way.

The afternoons will be spent experiencing Chinese culture such as Martial Arts,Tai Chi Caligraphy, Mask painting, Kite making, Paper cutting and Chinese dance as well as using the campus’s state of the art sports facilities.

Entertainment will be organized each evening including evening visits to a Beijing Chinese Opera,a Kung Fu Show, an Acrobatic show, the Beijing Olympic Park and vibrant shopping areas

We will also enjoy day time excursions to Tiananmen Square and Mao Tse-tung’s Mausoleum,the Forbidden City which was the home of Chinese Emperors and their courtiers, the Summer Palace used by The Emperors of China, and a section of The Great Wall of China. We shall include exciting down town shopping trips to malls and markets such as the Silk market, Panjiayuan antiques market,Hongqiao pearl market and Dongan night market.

All excursions and morning lessons will be in closed group sessions but there will also be a full immersion programme enabling our students to meet students on the campus from many different countries.

XIAN & SHANGHAI
Following our exciting stay in Beijing we take an overnight sleeper train to Xian, home of the famous Terracota Soldiers where we spend 2 days visiting the Terracota Soldiers and Horses Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, City Wall and Shaanxi History Museum.
We stay overnight in twin bedded rooms with private facilities in a modern 3 star hotel.

We then leave by plane for Shanghai, the renowned international metropolis.Situated on the estuary of Yangtze River, Shanghai is the perfect blend of modern and traditional cultures. New skyscrapers and old Shikumen lanes together draw the skyline of Shanghai. In this vibrant and modern city we visit the Ohel Moishe synagogue which was established in 1907 to serve the Russian Jewish community that flourished in Shanghai. Newly renovated and
re-opened to the public in 2008,it now serves as the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum. We shall also visit the Shanghai Museum, People’s Square, Jade Budha Temple, Yu Garden, Silk Mill,walk down the famous Bund and down Nanjing road for shopping. We shall spend an amazing evening watching the famous Shanghai acrobatic performance and enjoy an evening cruising down the Yangszte river.
